MIKUNA is a company founded by Ricky Echanique, a fifth-generation farmer from Ecuador. Ricky's journey began when he faced health and digestion issues while living in Santa Barbara, which led him to search for a cleaner form of plant-based nutrition. This quest brought him back to Ecuador and to the discovery of Chocho, an ancient lupin known as the "Andean super protein." Chocho has been cultivated by Andean farmers for thousands of years but remains relatively unknown due to its remote growth location. Inspired by the kindness, hospitality, and work ethic of local farmers, Ricky made it his mission to share Chocho with the world.

At MIKUNA, they believe in regenerative agriculture and strive to make a positive impact on the planet. They empower their farmers through education, fair trade practices, and programs that help improve their income. MIKUNA's protein powders are made from single-source plant protein grown at elevations of 11,000-14,000 feet in the Andes Mountains. Their focus is on providing clean, nutrient-dense plant-based nutrition that supports both personal health and sustainable farming practices.
