Saddlemans was founded in 1992 by Lance Nolder, an entrepreneur with a passion for innovation. It all started with selling leather accessories at a winter season open-air market in Palm Desert, California. As the business grew, Lance opened a seasonal store in a shopping mall in Cardiff by the Sea, San Diego. The pivotal moment came when he moved the business to Santa Fe, New Mexico, which catered to travelers and business owners looking for authentic southwest-style products and furnishings. It was during this time that Lance found his source for high-quality hair-on-hide cowhide rugs from Brazil.

Lance realized that frequent trips to Brazil were necessary to maintain the quality he demanded for his customers. Saddlemans gained recognition at the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas and expanded to wholesale and the design trade throughout the United States. In 2013, Saddlemans relocated back to Orange County, California, where Lance currently resides with his wife Michela and their golden doodle Lola.

Today, Saddlemans is the leading branded hair-on-hide supplier in the country, thanks to Lance's dedication, innovative ideas, and support from loyal customers. They continue to provide ethically sourced Brazilian cowhides of exceptional quality and offer a wide range of hide collections, including natural, metallic, stenciled, solid dyed, leather trimmed rugs, and more.
